The Romantic Sounds of Vintage Italian Swing
Senza Fine is a collaboration between Italian jazz maestros Mirko Guerrini, Ilaria Crociani, Carlo Canevalli and Melbourne based jazz heavyweights Jono Brown and Ryan Griffith.
Mirko, Ilaria and Carlo are acclaimed jazz musicians with over 50 CDs, a record label (nbn records) and numerous book publications between them. Mirko has led and composed with some of the world’s finest jazz musicians including Billy Cobham, Caetano Veloso, Hermeto Pascoal, Dave Douglas, Stefano Bollani, Enrico Rava, Peter Erskine and Kenny Wheeler. Mirko is a true innovator on the saxophone and his current involvement with Monash University saw the establishment of a Tuscany residency develop whereby young jazz musicians from Australia spent time in Italy composing, recording and performing alongside Italy’s greats.
Reviving the true sounds of Italy and leaving behind the cheesy copies of Italian songs made famous by Amercian singers, this band plays music direct from Italy’s heart. Lending a distincly modern jazz sensibility to the combo, band leader Mirko Guerrini has created a unique and world class ensemble that is available for your event.
The repertoire includes some of the great Italian songs, written by the most famous songwriters such as Gino Paoli (Senza Fine), Domenico Modugno (Volare, Meraviglioso, Piove), Fred Buscaglione (Guarda che luna, La sigaretta, Buonasera signorina), Bruno Martino (Forse, Estate), and Lelio Luttazzi (Mi piace, Tua).
Not limited to Italian repertoire, Senza Fine can combine jazz standards, modern groove as well as contemporary songs to create a rich blend of styles and sounds.
