FAQ

Can you learn a special song for us and do you do requests?

Indeed! We are more than happy to learn a special song for you, like some special wedding ceremony music. And unlike other jazz bands, we don't charge you for the privilege. We also have extensive song-lists for you to browse, but please, do give us plenty of notice if there are songs you have your heart set on.

Can you play the Horas?

Yes, we can play the Horas for you, and understand the format of Jewish celebrations.

Do you bring your own equipment?

Yes. We provide our own PA system and all hardware we need to pull a fabulous sound. We also provide suitable background music. If you need to use our system for speeches, just ask us. However, if you require lighting or an extremely large PA system please let us know. Additional charges apply for this.

Do you MC?

Yes, both Kimba and Ryan are able to MC your event, for an additional fee. We will work closely with you to ensure your running sheets and schedules are organised and realistic, liaise with the venue staff, and other key contacts, and ensure that once your event begins you can sit back and relax, while we do the work to keep things running smoothly. Please contact us for more information.

How does music fit into my Event?

Flexibility is the key and we have the experience to slip into any situation, from a casual family catch-up to a glittering A-list event requiring corporate entertainment. We will liaise with you to match our music to the tone of your event, and pride ourselves on punctuality, professionalism and congeniality.

How does music fit into my Wedding?

We specialise in providing a beautifully seamless music package for this most special of days. Kimba and Ryan often play as a duo for the wedding ceremony, with Ryan providing instrumental guitar while the crowd gathers. We play any song you ask as the bride enters and round out the ceremony and signing with some classy jazz.

During the cocktail hour you may choose a trio to provide some light jazz or latin music as your guests mingle. Once the reception opens, the full wedding band will be there to set the scene. Kimba and Ryan will assist you in choosing the perfect song for your first dance, or can roll out your old favourites.

They have developed a seamless repetoire that moves from light dinner jazz through to popular classics and that can end with everyone on the dancefloor grooving to your favourite genre, be it soul, funk, swing, or R&B. To ensure we nail your style, we ask you to check out our songlist and tell us 20 songs you love and 10 you can't stand!

Please note we are not a Top 40 cover band and, while we can play the odd song in this vein, we don't generally cover the Britneys or Biebers!

How long do you play for?

The standard call for a wedding is 5 hours (not including set-up time). Within that time we usually play four x 45min sets. For other events, call times may vary, but commonly we play three x 45 min sets in three hours. Just ask us how we can tailor a package to suit your needs.

How many people are in the bands?

We pride ourselves on being versatile and flexible. The core size of each group varies but most will be able to play as a duo and build up to a 6-8 piece for larger events. See each band's page for more information. We only play live and use no backing tracks or sequencers.

How much do you cost to have at our event?

Our fee depends on the number of players, length of time, distance we need to travel and what day and time your event is on! Please drop us a line and we can put together a unique quote for you. We are not an agency.

We are having an event in a small venue and are worried about the noise factor…

We completely understand the anxiety people feel about having musicians, especially drummers come into a small space. Luckily, we're all trained jazz musicians at heart, which means that volume control is an area of expertise. All the drummers Kimba and Ryan use have brilliant dynamics and can use a minimal kit and brushes. If a room is really small, why not settle on a duo, trio, or even solo guitar!

We really want everyone up and dancing! How can we be sure this will happen?

At most events where dancing is a must, you'll find a wide range of ages and stages in the crowd. It can be tricky to meet the musical tastes of everyone while still filling the brief of the event. Over the past 14 years, Kimba and Ryan have developed a repertoire of tunes that they know are almost foolproof! We secretly guard this amazing formula, but can tell you this; If dancing is what you want, then we'll tweak and twist the set till the toes are tapping and the bits are shaking! Young and old, mild or wild, we know how to move through the styles in a seamless way.

What styles of music do you play?

Each band on the site has a particular vibe and predominant style, whether it be the classy jazz/swing and get-em-dancing vibe of the Gin Remedy, the infectious world rhythms of Reflejos, and so on. Some groups specialise in shifting from jazz to classics to soul, please ask us for more information.

Who is behind Perfect Day Music?

We are not an agency. Kimba and Ryan Griffith are a husband and wife team who have been playing music together professionally since 1998. Both are versatile musicians who are able to cross genres and styles and both have exceptional customer service skills, and a vast breadth of experience working within the wedding and corporate music field. Their knowledge and professionalism is impeccable. They're both really friendly too!

The common link in all these groups is that either Kimba, Ryan, or both are key members. This means that no matter which band you choose, you can rest assured one of your key contacts will be there on the day ensuring the entertainment for your event goes off without a hitch.
